How to create custom ringtones for the iphone 3g/3gS using only Windows and itunes - free!

A short video showing you how to create your own custom ringtones for your iphone using only windows and itunes. Best of all it wont cost you a penny!
**Update: Still working with the latest version of iTunes and the 3gS**

Done using latest firmware (2.2) on a standard non-jailbroken iphone 3G!

I have no experience of MAC OS but it should be a similar process.

iphone users - to set as ringtone in itunes:

1) rip this audio and play on itunes (or add to library).
2) go to itunes preferences.
3) in general section, click on the "import settings" button.
4) change "import using" to AAC Encoder.
5) "setting" can be left at 128, or higher if you want.
6) right click track and choose "create AAC version"
7) find in itunes folder and rename extension from m4a to m4r.
8) add it to ringtones section & sync iphone.

there are other methods to up a ringtone. this was just one.
